I was raised in England and war-torn Northern Ireland where I experienced the horrors of terrorism first-hand. I have been physically shaken by bomb blasts and emotionally shaken by losing friends at the hands of gunmen. It was in those early days that I realized God’s love, peace and hope need to be demonstrated in the hearts of all people.
At the age of 16, being led by the Lord (and Starsky & Hutch), I left Great Britain to attend Bible College in Kansas City where I learned about: tornadoes, Baby Ruths, snipe hunting, Thanksgiving and full-time ministry. I settled into the Nashville, TN area which reminds me of home with its lush green, rolling hills and friendly folks. I’ve been married to Mark Dershem for over 25 years and we have a son Josh, a daughter Holly, son-in-law Michael, and granddaughter Ava. And let’s not forget the 3 grand-dogs that never go away! As part of the sandwich generation, my parents live with us too.
I get to live my passion and purpose every day and my desire is for you to find yours if you haven’t already, and to help you live out your purpose everyday too. As much as I enjoy talking with one person over a cup of coffee or speaking in front of thousands of people at an event, my heart gushes when one person catches God’s vision for their life and begins to live it.
A few of my favorite things are: my family hanging together at home, a good book or two, or three, coffee with friends, worshiping on the praise team, the beach and some good Irish banter with English sarcasm added in. :0)
